I don't think that any band in Poland plays on the same level as Funky Groove... Performance-wise, the album proves itself faultless: the rhythm section of Jahr and Grabowy works like a machine, creating a steady yet flexible "funky groove", and both guitarists not only admirably co-operate, supporting and complementing each other, but their improvisations come across as very well-set and thought out. The composition side of the record is no less solid and interesting. The music, penned mostly by Artur Lesicki, has the character, the punch and the ear-friendly melodies. [...]

The new Funky Groove record has supplied me with a lot of satisfaction and happiness. These feelings are due to the reception of its musical content - refined and stylistically consequent, yet filled with expression and emotion. The additional catalyst is the idea that despite all that currently is considered popular in today's Poland, these people can still deliver compositions so creative and important, and still within the borders of this country... ...Guitarists Artur Lesicki and Marek Napiorkowski, bassist Tomasz Grabowy and drummer Marcin Jahr demonstrate the highest level of professionalism fused with truth of the statement. Their compositions are created with full commitment. Great technical skills let them freely put their ideas into reality, yet they never fall into the trap of delivering pure, meaningless talent display. The other people who feature on the record are singer Dorota Miśkiewicz and percussionist Nippy Noya. Good co-operation of all has caused none of the tracks to be weaker than others. Quite the opposite, despite the different stylistics and rhythm meters, melodies and harmonies, the album is very unified. An excellent record which simply makes you listen to it over and over again. Well done.

[...]The quartet's leader and his friends perfectly balance the proportions between a precise arrangement and improvisations: everything on this record is clear, logical and...never too long. The dazzling unisonos of the guitar and the accordion (or piano - a round of applause for the virtuoso of both instruments Piotr Dziubek) continue into uncostrained solos, and to say that the rhythm section works ideally would be too little a compliment. On top of this there is the joy of realizing that no-one has ever played like this. There is no point in trying to classify this music and looking for associations. I have no doubt that just like Tomasz Stanko's most recent record Lesicki's An Unbelievable Silence will be dubbed the most important jazz album on this year's Polish market.

[...] The record's naturality and vividness is enchanting. It is especially striking when you hear the material in prime conditions and on high-quality equipment, which was exactly my situation, and I have to admit that the dynamics of the production impressed me greatly. This feeling was deepened by the seemingly contrasting state-of-the-art playing technique versus the musicians' sensitivity and authentic enthusiasm towards the music - showing through improvisations and the occasional background exclamations. [...] Lesicki confirms his position as a versatile and proficient professional, with undoubted experience, knowledge and musical tranquility.

[[...]The newest record of Artur Lesicki is material-wise an original product. One listens to it with great satisfaction and real interest. [...] What influences these feelings greatly is the natural tone of the acoustic instruments, the homogenous and unified nature of the compositions (even though they differ substantially), the excellent arrangements and their masterful realizations. [...] The guitarist (and the author of most compositions on the record) - Artur Lesicki, accordionist and pianist Piotr Dziubek, bassist Robert Szydło and drummer Michał Czwojda represent marvellous technique but also great musicality. Both the written and the improvised pieces reflect their huge sensitivity to the quality of the articulated sounds and the subordination of their individual preferences to the band's musical team-work.
